Youth Footwear, a simple guide to shoes for soccer training.

I am going to keep this simple.

There are 4 types of shoes for needed for youth soccer training.

                  Grass Boots.
These are the typical boots with deep cleats meant for playing on grass fields.
                  and grass fields only.

                  Turf Boots.
These boots have a large number of small rubber nodules on the sole.
They are suited for play on artificial turf.

                  Indoor Court.
These boots have a light yellow flat rubber sole.
As the name implies they are suited for gymnasiums or wood floor courts.

                  Street.
Street shoes are your basic running shoes.
They are effectively used when playing on coarse pavement.

                  What about Gravel?
                  A valid question.
What type of soccer shoes are best for dirt, or gravel fields?
We recommend not to play on gravel, however, most clubs are forced to.
We have found that standard grass boots with round rubber cleats work well.

                  Other shoe questions.

                  What are the best shoes?

This is an easy question to answer.
90 percent of the commercially available soccer boots are bad.
The older Nike total 90 "shoot" series are the best.
(the new "shoot" series boots are not as good).

The problem with most soccer boots ............
The laces interfere with ball control and shooting.

Effective ball control and striking taught at Fast Foot Speed uses the centre top of the foot,
You have probably all heard the term, "kick with your laces".
Seems kind of ridiculous doesn't it?
How controlled a shot are you going to get when the laces are causing ball deflection?
Nike Total 90 shoot II have side laces and an effective smooth textured top centre area.

We are now entering an era where the boot manufacturers are recognizing this.
They are moving the laces to the side and coming up with different concepts.
Boots like Concave and Reebok Prime Rage are examples of better design.
